Avalanche preparedness
The transport infrastructure connects society and is critical for viable local communities and a competitive business sector. Troms is a coastal county with steep mountainsides exposed to harsh weather and climate.
Every winter, we experience avalanches that impact our roads in more than 200 avalanche paths. In summertime there are occasional rockfalls, earth slides and floods. When such events occur, it is important to be prepared to act appropriately and limit the damage.
We have six geologist and geotechnicians that are responsible for handling natural hazards, both the planning, construction and operating phase.
